Copywriting might seem like it is hard to understand or to correctly apply, but there are going to be times when you want to exceed expectations. Of course this is only possible if you are not making silly mistakes like the ones we will discuss in this article.

All sales copy exists to produce sales, and another important function is to inspire trust in you and your business. Also, check out this one – Info Prodigy.

All effective copywriters understand the difference between features and benefits, and that it’s of paramount importance to only speak in terms of benefits. While it’s not possible to always exclude features 100% of the time, but you still absolutely must quickly turn those features into great benefits. When it comes to making a decision about buying, people always think about it selfishly, and that’s why expressing the benefits will get a better response than features. Before you can effectively talk about the benefits, you need to know all you can about the product, first. So, one good way to do this is to write down all the features you can think of, and then convert each feature into a benefit and use that in the sales material. Doing that will eliminate one great problem area that so many copywriters have difficulty with. Good benefits in copy will show the reader all the ways a product or service will solve some kind of problem in their life.

Another simple mistake that copywriters commit is that they don’t have any convincing testimonials lined up in their copy. Keep in mind that people don’t buy for logical reasons, all purchases are made for emotional reasons and then justified, afterwards. Since we all buy from strangers online, there are concerns about whether or not your business can be trusted with their money, and of course they want to know if other people have been satisfied with your product or service. The trust issue is a difficult one to deal with for online businesses, and testimonials are a powerful method that will help you build some trust with your visitors. You will see the difference in your conversion rates if your visitors have a way to feel some level of trust.

Besides that, you can also take down testimonials from other experts in the niche you’re promoting, which will again make your product look more credible and worth buying.

Reading a long sales letter can take a toll on your prospect, so don’t make the mistake of writing in large paragraphs that are hard to read. You never want your readers to be annoyed or irritated, so you can help prevent that by generous use of white space coming through in your copy – but don’t overdo it. One thing to never forget about readers, if they get too irritated, annoyed, or have to work to do something they’ll be gone – just like that.

Always make sure your copy is well-organized, so one thing that means is your paragraphs only support one idea or point. Keep you copy “tight” and don’t run off into tangents about anything for any reason. Learn how to write compelling stories because you can totally transform underperforming copy with a great story that sucsk the reader into your copy. A great story can do tremendous things for your copy, so just make it relevant and weave it into your copy as smoothly as possible.

So don’t forget to divide your sales letter into smaller, digestible paragraphs, or the whole meaning of a story can be lost.

What could be worse than having a copy that is ridden with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors? It’s just that things like this do not look good, they reflect poorly on you and people will judge you by it. You should always, always make sure that you’re proof reading your sales letter before it goes live in front of your target audience. It’s an easy thing to do so don’t overlook it or ignore it unless your work is always perfect. So it always makes sense to go through your sales copy at least twice to make sure it’s error free.

How would you like to read a sales copy that reads like a high school essay? You’ll need to write in a fairly simple way without all the big words students use to impress their teachers and professors. This is exactly why you shouldn’t ignore the use of bullet points in your sales copy, where you can easily highlight the advantages of the product you’re talking about.

Benefit bullets allow for easy reading and quick scanning, and they convey the most important information about your product. Plus they make effective use of white space, they’ll open up a lot of white space which is important.

It helps eliminate what is called, the black wall of text effect.

If you can just learn what the most common mistakes are, and then do all you can to avoid them you’ll be writing better copy. Copywriting is all about learning, practice, and feedback – so try to do those as much as possible. Read more about it: 3 Easily Avoidable Copywriting Mistakes.
